Getting out version .1

October 16th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I’m reading Getting Real from 37Signals and one thing I’ve learned is that is it better to release a version of software on time and on budget but lacking features rather than throw more money and more time at the problem.  WordPress blogs are pretty easy to setup, but I’m fairly picky about the UI.

So rather than try to get the blog to have the same CSS as our main site and push our launch date for the blog out even farther, I’m releasing the blog with an out-of-the-box theme and we’ll get around to merging it into the site when we need to.  After all, we’ve got to pay the bills!

The business major in me says I need a vision statement for what this blog is going to do, but we don’t.  It’s a blog.  Enjoy.

Great call in going ahead and launching - letting the blog grow organically will provide a clearer vision than you could ever articulate at the outset.
